In my group and private classes for the youngest singers I am always coming up with new vocal “games” to keep them enthused while teaching vocal technique. I thought I’d start sharing some new games I’ve created.
POPCORN teaches young singers octaves while still having fun and being silly!
Have your students all gather in a clump as if they were popcorn kernels waiting to pop. Everyone sings the exercise until the teacher calls out a name. That student then “pops” up singing “POP-CORN”! You can then continue up and down the scale by half steps in whatever range best suits your singers. Have fun!
